Help.. my scalp is itchy & dry!

Sometimes the drying effects of winter, as well as a build-up from shampoos and conditioners, makes the scalp feel a little itchy, dry, or flakier than usual.

Help is on the way!

The following recipe helps soothe and calm scalp dryness.

Use a bottle with a dropper for easy application, or simply massage it in with your fingertips. Apply daily for a couple of weeks and see what a difference it makes.

In a small 50 ml amber glass dropper bottle, start with a base of the following ingredients and amounts:

2 tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp fractionated (liquid) coconut oil, and 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar.

ACV is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial, making it a great scalp cleanser. The other oils are hydrating and can add softness to the hair.

To this mixture, add the following essential oils:

5-7 drops peppermint - anti-inflammatory, soothes itchiness

5-7 drops rosemary - anti-fungal, astringent, helps reduce build-up

5-7 drops tea tree - anti-fungal, anti-septic, anti-viral, anti-bacterial, analgesic

5 drops frankincense or lavender - anti-inflammatory, calming, nourishing for the skin and scalp

5 drops cedarwood - anti-inflammatory, anti-septic, astringent, cleansing

Let the oils sink in and do their magic anywhere from 15 minutes to a few hours depending on your needs and comfort. Shampoo as normal. Enjoy your newly cleansed and refreshed scalp!
